Favorite Pet Store:
BUSHWICK BARK (2 amazing locations)

Why we love ‘em!
Quote taken from their 8 year anniversary post on Instagram (check them out @BushwickBark)
8 years ago today we opened the doors of our Knickerbocker Shop for the first time. This makes me feel all sorts of ways. I had no clue if we would survive. No clue if people would accept my shop in a newly gentrifying neighborhood. Not sure if I would be able to pay my rent those first few months because I had put every last penny (and a lot of debt) into opening this shop. Unsure if anyone would want to choose Bushwick Bark for their pets needs, or why they would even want to. Not sure how we would make a name for ourselves in the community.
Here we are, 8 years later, and I couldn’t possibly feel more grateful and proud to be a part of our wonderful Bushwick community.
So today I just need to say thank you to so many folks who believed and helped the shop get to where we are today!”
“Dottie and her team provide heartfelt, well researched items and only the best ingredient foods and treats. I have not ONE time left one of their stores without having smiled or laughed at least a dozen times.. They are essential to our thriving dog community. Dottie leads her team with kindness, love, and respect, and she diligently trains them so that they are almost as knowledgeable as she is. Her products get you there, the atmosphere keeps you coming.” -Dom
Favorite Vet Office
Franklin Ave Animal Hospital
614 Franklin Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11238
(718) 975-7080
Dom has been taking her menagerie (5 cats- Malvolio, CleoCatra, Wednesday, Boris, Natasha. 2 pups- Koda, and Amelia) to Franklin Ave Hospital for 5 years now. She is thrilled that she found them because this entire vet office is staffed with phenomenal humans. They care, and it shows. There doctors are excellent, their hours are ample, and they offer “walk-in” care for when your pet can’t wait and no appointments are available. They will find a way to squeeze you in any way that they can. I can’t say enough about this local gem.
Organizations to Adopt/Foster:
Hearts and Bones Rescue
This rescue pulls dogs from High Risk shelters in Texas where they have a sister facility. There are so many dogs down there that the euthanazia rates are astronomical. Bringing these dogs to NYC gives them a new lease on life. Adopt, volunteer, or foster today!
